in addition there are numerous restaurants, bars, and eateries such as the galo de ouro restaurant and the popular salete bakery. the street then continues northward, beyond the bairro's limits, and enters the renowned apotheosis praça, part of the sambadrome complex, and one of the most important places in all of rio.

in this general area, a little to the east, it is possible to find the  catumbi fountain - in the 19th century it was one of the main sources of drinkng water.  in the past catumbi has felt the effects of urban decay, however the district has undergone significant improvements in the past decade, and is now regaining popularity. t he development of santa teresa and the increased importance of lapa have resulted in an economic recovery and urban restoration of this area.
