the neighborhood does have several important attractions. the são francisco de paula graveyard is considered one of the most important locations inside catumbi. it's the final resting place of several important figures of 'carioca' society, such as francisco manuel da silva and the viscounts of itamaraty and mauá.

in the northern tip of catumbi lays the original section of one of the most renowned roads of the city, the street marquês de sapucaí, which begins just beyond the neves square. on this street it is possible to find some important religious buildings, such as the our lady of salette sanctuary (nossa senhora da sallete) and the igreja batista do rio de janeiro (baptist church of rio de janeiro).
