at a glance

The district of Lapa offers residents and visitors of Rio one of the most exotic and exciting nightlife locations in the world.
The unmistakable attraction that marks the entrance to the carnivalesque and bohemian epicenter of Rio are the great white Arcs of the historic aqueduct. on Friday and Saturday nights the streets of Lapa are abuzz with long lines of stalls selling cocktails, beers and street food. Thousands of people weave in and around these stalls, watching impromptu dance shows, and musical performances, chatting with friends and losing themselves in the bright lights and rhythmic hum of the unique space. there are a number of bars that line the streets, playing vibrant traditional music, such as samba, forró and funk. One of the most famous and traditional venues in the region is Rio Scenarium, which plays samba, Musica Popular Brasileira (MPB), or 'Brazilian Popular Music', and chorinho. The establishment, located in a picturesque, old town-house, fuses antique shop, music venue and restaurant, lighting up with carioca energy every night of the week.arrow-back      arrow-forward
