Presented by the Governo do Rio de Janeiro, the project Programa de Reestruturação do Sistema dos Bondes de Santa Teresa (Restructuring Scheme for the Tram System in Santa Teresa), by Regis Fichtner focusses on the restructuring of, and Investments for, new trams - The outlines for the New Tram System are as follows: Acquisition of 14 new Trams with traditional aesthetic characteristics; Preservation of the historic and socio-cultural features; Efficiency of the System; Substitution of the permanent route; Reform of the aerial network; Reform of the electrical substation; Restructuring of and investments in new trams.

Presented by the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, the study Santa Teresa/RJ: A atuação do Município na preservação de sua Arquitetura Eclética (Santa Teresa/RJ: The Municipality's role in the preservation of its eclectic architecture), by Ana Maria M. de Figueiredo e Rosina Trevisan M. Ribeiro, proposes that implantation of the convent of Santa Teresa at the end of the 18th Century raised in its surroundings a neighborhood of the same name - The arrival of the Royal Family intensified the preoccupation with hygiene in the area, due to its altitude, as well as the desire for natural exuberance.
