there is also a rich biodiversity of tropical fauna, which can often be found in the gardens - this is a result of regeneration of forests surrounding the gardens, which have allowed many species to use the gardens to conduct their daily routines.

in addition to the natural flora and fauna, which make the garden such an appealing attraction, there are many other points of interest, to keep guests busy during their visit. one of the most popular places in the garden is the greenhouse, which was built in the nineteenth century, and then restored in 1998, which holds some of the parks beautiful ornamental plants.

there are two museums within the site, which are designed to promote and disseminate the jardim botânico's culture, as well as spread knowledge regarding the species housed within. the environmental museum (museu do meio ambiente) is actually the first museum in latin america, to be dedicated solely to an environmental theme. arrow-back      arrow-forward
