at a glance

access to the region was initially only via canoe on the lagoa, or using a precarious foot path via the corcovado, until reaching the rio cabeça - the path in 1860 was known as rua do oliveira, and after some years a sidewalk was added and it transformed into the rua jardim botânico, soon after, in 1871, the tram lines also arrived as well.

now this affluent neighborhood is fully developed with apartment complexes and several local recreational areas with streets like Rua Lopes Quintas, neighboring the Botanical Garden, transforming from busy commercial streets to quiet residential areas - in the same street where top-notch design stores such as Dona Coisa attract visitors and residents to a productive shopping day, quaint residences enjoy the refreshing and green atmosphere of the neighborhood.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
