at a glance

included in this tropical display are over eight thousand species of plants and flowers, with over 600 species of orchids and an estimated 1,700 species of bromeliads, whilst the symbol of the park is the royal palm, which is housed within.

there are two museums within the site, which are designed to promote and disseminate the jardim botânico's culture, as well as spread knowledge regarding the species housed within - the environmental museum (museu do meio ambiente) is actually the first museum in latin america, to be dedicated solely to an environmental theme. another academic addition to the garden is the library, which is located on the site, with an estimated 66,000 books, of which 3,000 are considered rare.

the jardim botânico is considered one of the ten most important botanical gardens in the world, contains over 8000 species of plants, and thousands of orchids belonging to hundreds of exotic species are on display in its orchidarium.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
