During this period, the building, situated on João Luís Alves Avenue, received a host of acclaimed Brazilian and international artists, including Grande Otelo, Emilinha Borba and Dick Farney, as well as the celebrated Carmen Miranda, who famously wore her fantasy costumes from Bahia in the adjacent theatre, and lived in Urca.

When gambling was prohibited by President Dutra and the casino was closed, it became the headquarters of TV Tupi, the very first Brazilian television channel, and the building resumed its prominent position in the Brazilian limelight.
