bar lagoa, formerly known as 'bar berlim', is a german restaurant opened in 1934, during an era where a large influx of german immigrants arrived in brazil, and that stood the test of time in rio de janeiro's lagoa neighborhood.

the architecture and interior design of transom doors and art deco marble floors still remain, representing the popular styles of the times - the menu consists of traditional german cuisine such as the kassel favorite, which is a smoked pork-chop loin that is typically served with sauerkraut.

there are also quite a few fish and shrimp options and the milanesa beef is a another popular favorite, which is a german-style dish with a brazilian twist - for dessert, the strudel with ice cream on top is highly recommended. arrow-back       arrow-forward
