in the northeast of brazil, gastronomy inherits much of the african traditions - african/bahían restaurants are suggested here - in the northwest, the indigenous inhabitants of the brazilian forests contributed delicacies to what spread across brazil and the world as  amazonian cuisine.

in the south of brazil, the mostly european descendants created a culinary culture focused on grilled meat, reflected  in rio's many churrascarias - in rio, carioca cuisine typically includes feijoada and the leão veloso, with the delicious bean stew being the most famous brazilian dish outside of brazil.
