at a glance

feijoada is one of the most traditional of brazilian dishes - a type of black or red bean stew, made with various meats served with rice, steamed green cabbage, farofa and orange slices.

it usually contains pork or beef and includes a variety of vegetables such as tomatoes, carrots, or cabbage - originally from northern portugal, brazilians adopted this dish and made their own version.

traditional brazilian feijoada is made with black beans, and is prepared with different parts of pork, including feet, ears or tail - these were the leftovers that slave masters did not eat and left to the african slaves, who used the cooking methods and traditions of their own homeland to create the dish.   arrow-back      arrow-forward
