the gastronomic scene in rio de janeiro is becoming a point of pride for the city.  there are now hundreds of great restaurants in rio, and it would not be practical to list them all, especially considering that most visitors will only be in rio for a week or so.

thus, we decided to only include the very best establishments according to their most distinguished feature.   

for example, a good steakhouse with a spectacular view would be listed under scenic, while a juice bar that is open at all times day and night would be listed under 24-hour.
