at a glance

argentina is located in the southern part of south america and bordered by almost 5,000 kilometers of coastline separating it from the atlantic - the country offers a varied cuisine that is very specific to the expansive geography of the region, which includes landscapes as diverse as prairies, jungles, desserts, and mountains.

this diverse physical landscape, as well as the climate and the various waves of immigration that the country has experienced throughout its history, have deeply affected its cooking style - because the climate in argentina ranges significantly from the cold seasons in patagonia to the sweltering heat of buenos aires, this has given rise to a fair amount of varied ingredients used in argentinian cuisine.

argentinians produce a major chunk of the world's food, offering beef, wheat, corn, milkbeans and soybeans, among other products - european settlers, mostly from italy and spain, were among the most influential in argentinian cooking, though the germans, french, and jews contributed traditional recipes as well.           arrow-back      arrow-forward
