at a glance

opium is part of the ipanema plaza hotel, with its own separate entrance and it is a restaurant that serves a fusion of japanese, chinese, thai, vietnamese, and indian food.

the interior of the restaurant is modern and fresh, with a sophisticated feel, and a lovely japanese twist - at night opium is lit with candles, making the ambiance a very warm, cozy, and intimate setting for the perfect evening.

the food is delicious and of high quality, with certainly a great deal of variety - among the appetizers, the chicken dumplings are the popular choice.

the house specialty would have to be the shrimp rice served inside half of a pineapple, consisting of jasmine rice, cashew nuts, pineapple cubes, and ginger - this dish is a must have in taste and its design. to go with such tasty and spicy food, exotic cocktails are served.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
