The diplomatic relations between Finland and Brazil are very friendly and have been so since the early 20th century - in 1919 Brazil acknowledged finland as an independent country, and in 1923 the embassy of Brazil opened in helsinki.

During the world war in 1940, Brazil donated 10,000 packages of coffee to finland, through authorization from the president - Chiefs of state from each nation have made formal visits to each other's countries and finland has multiple times described Brazil as a central figure in global politics, going as far as supporting the brazilian nomination as a permanent member of the UN's security council.
