feeding humankind's infatuation with the unknown, diving has been practiced, in one form or another, for an estimated 6500 years. scuba diving, as a sport, is attributed to the likes of jacques costeau and emile gagnan - in 1943 they invented the first aqualung, enabling humans to breath underwater and explore deep depths.

after 1943 the sport grew rapidly across the globe - the equipment was constantly improving and modernizing. these improvements allowed participants to safely undertake the activity with moderate amount of training.
