Workshops on how to create and fly these bird like kites are now being run in the communities of Fallet, Cantagalo(link) and Santa Marta(link) - Visitors are invariably charmed by the beauty and collective identity behind the practice.

Thiago Firmino was the first person to initiate these workshops - When running one of his guided tours of the Santa Marta community he called one of the young kite flying residents over to demonstrate to visitors how it is done. Nowadays, young residents of the community are trained to lead the workshops and take the profits home to support their families.   arrow-back     arrow-forward
