the brazilian motorcycle federation was technically founded in 1948 and continues to promote all facets of the sporting activity until today. in rio de janeiro motocross has a relatively strong presence in hosting international and national competitions - the state itself has its own championships, usually the starting point for young athletes.

the 'carioca' federation goes by the designation of fluminense federation of motocyclism, or ffm for short  - it is under the branch of the brazilian motocross federation.
