at a glance

a carveboard is very similar to a skateboard, but the technique and riding style are quite different, as the carveboard is used to better simulate big wave surfing or deep alpine snowboarding.

the carveboard was invented in california by avid surfers brad and joe gerlach in 1997 to help practice their surfing style during days with no waves.

their invention ended up looking similar to a longboard with differing mechanics and sensations, offering the handling and feeling that are ultimately much closer to surfing.

instead of standard skateboard wheels, the wheels and trucks are much larger, often the size of small go cart tires.   arrow-back     arrow-forward
