Modern technology made a large impact on the equipment squash players use today - in the past racquets were wooden, and strung with organic materials, while nowadays the common materials are carbon fiber, graphite, and kevlar.

the sport has a strong following in rio de janeiro - in 2007, the pan american games were hosted in the city and brasil's mens team earned a bronze medal - the country usually fares well in international competitions, and the squash community made many efforts to have it included in the 2016 olympic games. the bid was turned down this time, but it is anticipated the sport will be included in the 2020 games.

rio de janeiro has several amazing squash facilities, with one of the more popular locations being the rio squash clube - with courts available to book, classes on learning the sport and leagues for those more competitive, the facilty caters to all skill sets. More information about the clube is available on their official websie here.   arrow-back     arrow-forward
