at a glance

in the 1970s the swiss biologist hermann brandt created a sport, with the objective to minimize the risk of injury that is commonly associated with many other, while using the competitive energy to generate a more cooperative view of the world - his solution was tchoukball.

the playing field is vaguely similar to a handball field, but instead of a goal a trampoline-like frame is used for scoring - points are given whenever the strike to this frame either hits or misses - a hit gives a points to the attcaking team, while a miss gives points the defending team. the teams are made up of five people and physical contact is forbidden - in fact, players are forbidden from taking the ball from their opponents.

the international federation of tchoukball was created in 1971 and the first world cup was held in 1984 in taiwan in 1984, where the sport enjoys the most popularity worlwide.   arrow-back     arrow-forward
