indoor  volleyball does not offer visitors the same iconic backdrops on the beach, but it is a great way to exercise and interact with the sport's rich history - many great facilities to play indoor volleyball are available in the city.

the sport itself is a hybrid of basketball, baseball, tennis and handball - devised in 1895 by william g. morgan, it was in holyoke massachusetts where morgan came up with the game. the idea materialized from the intention of making a sport less physical than basketball.

the sport consists of two teams, six people to a side, on opposing sides of a court with a net in the middle - one team serves the ball, while the opposing team recieves the ball, ensuring that it does not touch the ground, with a maximum of three touches a side.  arrow-back     arrow-forward
