intermunicipal buses are buses which travel to other municipalities within the state of rio de janeiro, with one of the most common journeys being to and from the nearby city of niterói. buses can be different in terms of designing and comfort, and seeing as they travel to multiple cities, they are not subject to the same laws and policies as seen in the city of rio. the marvelous city has a card for locals called bilhete único carioca, which is a pass with benefits only given to residents - riocard, the company that is in charge for the production of these transportation cards, also have a pass called bilhete único rj which allows the use of transportation on a municipal level. published by guia de ônibus (the bus guide) on this page there is a table with all distances from rio de janeiro to hundreds of destinations across brazil. |
