at a glance
the two major trams in rio are operated differently, and run a different course - the santa teresa bondinho is an open-air elctric wagon that travels, at times, through heights, while the vlt carioca is a closed-ecological street vehicle - it is because of their differences that different safety and tips apply.

the bonde has historically attracted pedestrians to jump onboard while in transit to avoid paying the entrance fee - although the free ride may sound inviting, it is not recommend fo saftey reasons.

keeping one's hands and feets inside the wagon is always advised - sitting down is preferred seeing as the tram runs through heights, as well as uphill and downhill.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
