the inaugural event also witnessed 1.5 million people in attendance - the largest crowd in the history of music festivals. there was also an audience of 700,000 for both the second and fourth of the rio de janeiro editions and 1.2 million for the third.  

tickets sold out in the four hours after being released on april 4 2013, showing just how popular the festival has become. acts were performed across three stages within the cidade do rock, the palco mundo (world stage/main stage), the palco sunset (sunset stage), and the electronic stage.
