cultural events are also an important part of ipanema beach - in 2008 the concert celebrating the 50 years of bossa nova music was a great example of this.  it was also a great homage to the musical genre, which immortalized the beach.

a few typical kiosks add color the shore, offering light snacks, juices, and the iconic coconut water. during the summer and on weekends, some kiosks host live musical performances.
