the closest mirante to the touristy areas is called mirante do pedrão (also called mirante de santa marta), facing the neighborhoods of laranjeiras and offering great views of botafogo bay and the sugar loaf.

this mirante is easily accessible via taxi from laranjeiras, or taking the elevator to the top of the favela, and then walking down about 10 minutes.

going via taxi is easier and faster, but going via the inclined elevator located at the entrance of the favela in botafogois definitely more fun, as the views form the elevators are great and complete over the community.
