the curious name of the hill on which the park is located, is perhaps alluding to the stunning views from the park - in fact, a 'pasmado' is derogative term used to describe someone who is considered slow or stupid - in other words  'stunned'.

this park is also known as the 'monumento à bandeira' (monument to the flag) due to the huge brazilian flag soaring above it.

the morro do pasmado is part of a newly reforested area that was, at one time home to a favela community. the former residents were relocated to a housing development to facilitate the renewal project.
