pico da tijuca is the second highest peak in rio de janeiro and it is considered by  many the easiest hike in the tijuca forest along with the pedra do conde. also in the zona norte is the morro da vista cinesa, a mountain offering breathtaking views onto lagoa, ipanema and the christ on corcovado.

among the most famous mountains of this region of rio is the bico do papagaio, a very hard to reach summit but famous local landmark, gifting daring climbers with incredible views of the tijuca forest and the entire cityscape of rio.

the morro do corcovado, the mountain that is home to the christ the redeemer statue is bordering the zona norte - located in santa teresa, the mountain can normally be accessed via the zona sul.
