at a glance

the area now known as prainha park was originally part of three big land expanses known as fazenda camorim, vargem pequena and vargem grande, owned by the sugar manufaturer, engenho central de jacarepaguá company.

in 1891, the whole property was acquired by the crédito móvel bank, and in 1949 divided into 4 sections, identified by letters a, b, c and d. the area remained untouched for several decades, until the seventies, when avenida estado da guanabara was built to link the region of estrada pontal at recreio dos bandeirantes with the neighborhood of grumari, an adjacent beach. arrow-back     arrow-forward
