the  reserva extrativista marinha (resex) de itaipú is located in the oceanic region of niterói, covering an area of 3950 hectares including itaipú and itaipú lagoon, itacoatiara, camboinhas, and piratininga. the region is home to some of the most breathtaking coastal landscape and popular surf beaches in niterói, and in fact the state of rio.
