at a glance

in april 1990 prainha gained official protected status, which allowed minimal infrastructure like parking areas, stores, and information booths. since 1995, the associação de surfistas e amigos da prainha (the surfers and friends of da prainha association) and redley, a company that sells surfing gear, have worked to build the necessary infrastructure to allow surfing while conserving the area.

the park is totally sustainable and powered by solar energy. at the visitors center, tourists can take composting and recycling classes. it is a must see for those who want to experience a beautiful beach and travel green.

visitors interested in entering this or other areas of environmental protection, wild beaches, or any other region where nature is more present than humans, should read the rules of conduct, as prepared by the ministry of the environment of brazil and posted on this page. arrow-back     arrow-forward
