the essential aims of the creation of the park remain, which are, to preserve and protect the delicate ecosystems that live within the park, and to stimulate the development of sustainable tourism, education and scientific research in the park, whilst hoping to provide opportunities for local enterprises, creating income for the region.

the main attribute of the park is the dense atlantic forest, which provides a home for much of the alluring natural species that live within. the scientific reason for such density of the forest is the climate of the region, which remains very high in temperature, and also has a very high rainfall, distributed fairly equally throughout the year.

due to such deep forestry, and such an exotic climate, the park is home to some incredible species of natural flora and fauna, which all thrive in the wilderness of the park. much of the vegetation consists of evergreen tree species, whilst the plant life lives up to its exotic reputation, with a colorful array of bromeliads, orchids and cacti on display.
