at a glance

with a total area of 46,350 hectares the parque estadual dos três picos is the largest unit of full environmental conservation in the state, playing host to a plethora of natural attributes, and rare ecosystems. it has been suggested that the ultra-high levels of biodiversity are a result of the large variations of altitude within the park, ranging from 100 meters above sea level at its lowest point, to 2,310 meters at its highest point, which is the astonishing pico maior de friburgo.

included in the various ecosystems of the park is an eclectic mix of endemic species of native flora and fauna, which add an unmistakable vibrancy to the park, and adorn it with natural decoration of the most colorful kind. amongst an intoxicating array of orchids, bromeliads, and various other plants, one of the most impressive species is the jequitibá tree, reaching an incredible 60 meters in height, making it the tallest tree in atlantic forest biome. arrow-back     arrow-forward
