at a glance

the rio das pacas also runs through the neighborhood of jacarepaguá. it is named after a species of south african rodent found in parts of brazil, paraguay, and mexico. they have large heads, pig-like bodies, and swollen cheeks with long whiskers and can be found residing along the banks of the river.

many small waterfalls flow from the pacas river, some of which are great for swimming and snorkeling due to the deep plunge pools and gentle cascading waters.

the rio da prata in campo grande offers visitors the chance to experience some of brazil's impressive marine wildlife. snorkeling is one of the most enjoyable activities on the river due to the large number of exotic fish - there are 55 species including the huge dourado fish. arrow-back     arrow-forward
