the metrô station estação carioca is about a 10 minute-walk away from praça xv. finally, for visitors perhaps planning on spending one night in itaipú or not pressed for time, the most comfortable but most time consuming way of getting to praia de itaipú from rio's zona sul would be from the bus terminal menezes cortes (terminal garagem menezes cortes) in the center of town. the bus terminal menezes cortes can be reached by either taking bus line 2015 (castelo x leblon circular) or by taking the subway to carioca - the subway station in only a few minutes walk from the bus terminal.
