the actual 'adventure' beaches cannot be reached via taxi or bus - as taxis or buses can only get to the beach da barra de guaratiba, after which the wild shores can only be reached via hiking (about 60 minutes to praia dos búzios, the first beach) or via small boats, about 20 minutes to praia dos búzios.

the road connecting the rest of rio de janeiro to the beach da barra de guaratiba (praia grande), the last populated beach before the adventure beaches, goes through a protected area, and as a result the fleet of authorized buses that go back and forth on this line is limited. getting to this part of rio via bus can be a bit complicated for visitors who are not familiar with the city, or not fluent in portuguese.    arrow-back     arrow-forward
