right across from the beach, the restaurant garota da urca is the ideal setting to enjoy a picanha de carne (grilled meat), while looking at the reflections in the water and the christ statue. not far from the beach is the landmark bar da urca, nicknamed 'burca,' and a favorite meeting point of many youths and intellectuals.

a taxi ride from copacabana or ipanema will cost about 30 reais each way, and there is a taxi stand right by the beach for the way back. alternatively, many buses that follow routes along ipanema and copacabana reach urca - the destination is displayed and easily seen on the front of the buses, but stop about 200 meters away from the actual beach.  

bus number 512 (urca x leblon) runs along avenida portugal and stops at urca beach, alternatively directly from the  botafogo metrô station bus 513 (botafogo x urca) can be taken reaching urca via avenida pasteur.
