at a glance | part of rio's neighborhoods, yet only reachable by boat, paquetá is a small island set in the middle of guanabara bay, near governador's island, the location of rio's international airport. up until the end of the fifteenth century, paquetá was one of the main centers of resistance of the french against portuguese occupation. today, extremely peaceful, with no cars and only dirt roads, paquetá moves to the rhythm of the bicycles and horse carriages that trot through it. small houses, quite beaches, many flowers, and small bars by the water make of this island a time machine for a journey into rio's past. | beach attire | |||
