at a glance | hard to imagine a strong sense of community and pride in the history of the neighborhood becoming the scenery of a rio de janeiro beach. yet, this is exactly the charm of praia da dona luíza, a small strip of sand located in the zona west of rio, facing sepetiba bay and rich of shaded areas from where to rest and relax. also known as praia do recôncavo this beach is a shoreline much frequented by local residents, and rarely home to foreign visitors. it is very much a working class beach and many fishing boats can be seen along the shoreline, waiting to be taken out on fishing excursions. |
