at a glance | all around this beach, on the surrounding hills, very colorful small houses add a dimension to praia do cais, and make it one of the most picturesque beaches in this part of rio de janeiro state. this community of houses on the hill over the beach, called morro do lazareto / cascarejo, is well kept and a source of pride for its residents who saw its expansion and improvement over the years. not far from the pier along rua lauro sodré, the small road that edges the beach, the jurujuba iate clube (jurujuba yacht club) is a local landmark and home to many sailboats. there are a few shops around the beach and a simple restaurant where to enjoy fresh fish and cold beer - there are no public restrooms, sport facilities, or life guards on duty. |
