small beach, big treasure - with only 80 meters in length, praia do canto (beach of the side) is a cute corner of a unique neighborhood of the west zone of rio - barra de guaratiba.

also referred to as 'prainha' (small beach) in contrast to the beach next to it called 'praia grande' (big beach), praia do canto has calm waters, bluish / green shades, fine white sand, and small homes built on the hill overlooking the shore.

normally only used by family with small children, and local residents gathering to chat, this beach is charming and photogenic.
