among these spectators were two youngsters known as baianinho and lelenco.

when they moved to the cavalcanti neighborhood they had the idea of creating a similar group to make their own parades. this how the lelenco's bloc was born.

in 1960 it was decided to convert the bloc into a samba school, which was then named after the already extinct bloc from catumbi.
