it was founded on november 3, 1952 by neighborhood families and macario oliveira. by 1983, the school paraded participated in the marquis de sapucaí carnival or, sambadromo as it is better known, for the first time.

it has the distinction of naming carmelita brazil, the first woman to head a samba school, as president in 1957.
