the new g. r. e. s. unidos da villa rica, or 'villa rica's united'in english, was officially created in 1990 and took part in the samba school championship in the very next year.

this early presence was meteoric, and the group managed to climb up the hierarchy of the samba schools. in 1995 it was already in the elite special division. unfortunately this quick presence in the topmost ranks was fleeting, as the unidos was overwhelmed by the competition.
