at a glance

the porto da pedra has its origins in a soccer club from the neighborhood by the same name - some members of this club had the idea to create a block in order to partake in the carnival celebrations.

this group existed for a few years at the end of the 1970s, before being officially classified as a samba school in 1978 - it would be the regional champion for several years, still without entering the stateside parade, in central rio. arrow-back      arrow-forward
