rio was released in brazil on march 22, 2011, receiving many positive reviews.

in 2014, the film rio 2, sees the return of the colorful characters from the hit animated movie rio, directed by brazilian carlos saldanha, and starring some of hollywood's top talent.

it is jam-packed with energy, vibrancy, and music, progressing the adventures of blu and jewel across brazil, from rio de janeiro, to the depths of the amazon. 

once again produced by blue sky studios, and written by carlos saldanha, the main characters blu and jewel take their three kids to the amazon, to meet the family of jewel - blu struggles to impress jewel's protective father-in-law, whilst continuing his rivalry with nigel.
