founded in 2002, The Academia Brasileira de Cinema (Brazilian Academy of Cinema) aims at promoting, preserving and disseminating Brazilian cinema, while  offering a dynamic space for industry professionals where to exchange ideas and experiences.

The creation of an award to celebrate the annual film production marked the beginning of a project that brought more than 300 partners including directors, distributors, producers, exhibitors, technicians, actors and other professionals in the film and audiovisual.
