BOPE stands for Batalhão de Operações Especiais - Special Operations Batallion, and became famous worldwide after the Tropa de Elite movies.

Although they are part of the Military Police, we have dedicated a special section for them because of the fame they have achieved.

This Battalion is responsible for the most difficult operations the military police has to undertake - and because of that, their training is also one of the heaviest among the military corps in Rio, second only perhaps to some federal forces.

An example of their sharp skills and discipline was their fundamental role in the pacification of the comunities, where the responsibility of the first contact with the enemy fell upon them and, by executing their mission, they made possible the implementation of the UPPs in many communities.
