There are two famous lookouts  called Divisa and Calça Larga, which offer beautiful scenic views of the mountains, beaches, waters and islands of the city, juxtaposed with the infrastructure of the urban metropolis. Salgueiro has not only maintained its impeccable record and repute in the influential world of Carnival Samba, but provides its residents with an eclectic cocktail of rituals, music, parties and scenic views which attest to its rich and varied history.

located atop the general roca street, the casa do sal is a small bar, typical form this kind of communities - created in 1958 by the father of the current owner, it currently serves light dishes and shows that small business can thrive in the region if given the time and the opportunity.

salgueiro also presents a few interesting gastronomical events, for instance the feast held by the carnival bloco raizes da tijuca in the first sunday of every month - an event that mixes the local passion with soccer, friendly games lasting the whole afternoon, as well as local cuisine, such as the especially popular 'rabanas' with potatoes and rice.
